We’ve always stood behind the products we build. Every Optispark distributor we sell is assembled from scratch using carefully selected components, bench tested for performance, and built with over three decades of refinement and expertise. Our return rate has remained exceptionally low, and our track record speaks for itself.
So why did we pause our extended warranty program in the first place?
The short answer: installation issues.
Over the years, we’ve seen a number of units fail due to factors outside our control (most commonly oil and coolant contamination, incorrect installation, or overlooked vehicle maintenance). These issues can cause even the best-built distributor to fail prematurely.
Because of this, we took a step back and paused our extended warranty offering while we re-evaluated the program.
So What’s Changed?
We’ve made significant improvements in how we educate and support our customers. From updated installation guides to informative blog and social media posts, we’re doing more than ever to help ensure our products are installed correctly and used as intended.
We’ve also introduced serial number tracking and clear warranty registration requirements, so if you ever do need to file a claim, we’ll have the details we need to help you quickly and fairly.
And now, with these systems in place, we’re proud to offer extended coverage again.
What’s Covered?
Our optional extended warranty provides protection beyond the standard coverage period. It applies only to the original end user and covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal use.
Note: If you're a repair shop or installer purchasing on behalf of a customer, be sure to include the end user’s full name at checkout so we can properly register the coverage.

What if I don’t purchase the extended warranty?
Every Optispark includes our standard warranty, which covers manufacturing defects for one year. The optional extended warranty simply extends that coverage for added peace of mind.
If your unit is outside the warranty period, we may still be able to help. We offer a rebuild service for a flat fee, subject to part availability. Rebuild requests are handled in the order they’re received and are not prioritized ahead of new orders.
The Bottom Line
This isn’t just about adding a checkbox at checkout. It’s about reinforcing our commitment to transparency, quality, and customer support. We want you to feel confident choosing Throwback Automotive—on day one and for years down the road.
